Same-day replacement | In-house licensed electrician | Branded pumps only | 3-month warranty | Free pond cleaning included | Since 2010

Why Singapore Pond Owners Call Us When the Pump Fails

A broken pump is not only an issue but a serious matter since your water becomes dirty after 24 hours; after 48, your koi begin to struggle for air; while after 72 hours, you start losing fish. That is why you cannot take three days before having your pond pump replaced since we made our business around urgency and safety of fish.

⚡ Same-Day, 24/7

Call us at midnight, Sunday morning, or during a public holiday — we answer. Most replacements happen within 4 hours of the call. Yes, after-hours has a small surcharge. No, you don’t have to wait until Monday.

🐟 Fish Holding Tank Loaned Free

If the work might compromise water quality, we loan you a holding tank with aerator at no charge. Filled with your existing pond water so the koi stay calm. We move them, do the work, move them back.

💰 From $950 + Pond Cleaning Free

Standard replacement starts at $950 and includes the branded pump, full installation, electrical check and a complete pond cleaning. No upsell, no surprise add-ons. The number we quote is the number you pay.

🛠️ Licensed Electrician In-House

Wiring, junction boxes, RCBO testing, IP-rated socket installation — done by our own electrician. We don’t outsource. Bad wiring around water is a fire and electrocution risk we take seriously.

⭐ Branded Pumps Only

Real brands with real warranties. We don’t install cheap online OEM pumps that fail in 6 months and leave you back where you started.

🛡️ 3-Month Warranty

Pump fails, leak appears, electrical issue — we come back at no charge for 3 full months. Full coverage on parts and workmanship.

Honest Diagnosis — We Only Replace If Replacement Is Needed

Half the call-outs we attend don’t actually need a new pump. Often it’s a tripped circuit breaker, a clogged pre-filter cage, a jammed impeller (a bit of leaf or fish food), a broken float switch, or a wiring fault that an electrician can fix in twenty minutes.

If that’s your situation, we’ll tell you. The visit becomes a $150 service call instead of a $950 pump replacement, and we’ll get your existing pump running again. We’ve been around since 2010 — we’d rather have you as a regular customer for the next ten years than oversell you a pump you didn’t need today.

Free on-site inspection of your pump, pipework and electrical work comes standard with every call-out. You only pay if something needs doing.

Choosing the Right Pump Size for Your Pond

Wrong-sized pumps are the most common reason ponds struggle. Undersized and your filtration starves — algae, cloudy water, sick fish. Oversized and you waste electricity, stress your fish with too much current, and shorten the pump’s life.

The three numbers that matter

  • Pond volume (litres). Length × width × average depth × 1,000 for cubic metres to litres. A 2m × 3m × 0.6m pond is 3,600 litres.
  • Total head height (metres). The vertical distance from pump to the highest point of water flow, plus 0.3m for every 90-degree pipe bend. A waterfall 1.5m above the pond with two bends has roughly 2.1m total head.
  • Turnover rate. Koi ponds need full volume turnover every 1 to 2 hours. Decorative ponds without fish, every 3 to 4 hours.

Signs Your Pond Pump Is Failing

Most pond pumps in Singapore last 3 to 5 years. Cheap pumps fail much sooner. Watch for these signs — early replacement is cheaper than emergency replacement after fish loss.

⚠ Reduced water flow

Waterfall is a trickle instead of a curtain. Filter return is weak. Fountain barely sprays. Usually impeller wear or partial blockage.

⚠ Strange humming or grinding

Pump making noises it didn’t make before. Often the impeller bearing is failing — usually weeks away from total failure.

⚠ Tripping the breaker

RCBO trips repeatedly, especially after rain. Often a water ingress into the motor — a fire and electrocution risk. Stop using and call us.

⚠ Pump running hot

Housing too hot to touch. Motor is overworking. May be undersized or starting to fail. Won’t last long.

⚠ Higher electricity bill

Sudden spike in your monthly bill. Failing pump motor draws more current to maintain flow. Energy waste plus impending failure.

⚠ Visible damage or leaks

Cracks in the housing, water leaking from seals, exposed wires. Replace immediately — running it longer is dangerous.

⚠ Pump won’t start

Total failure. Could be motor, capacitor, wiring, or the breaker. Diagnostic call needed before assuming the pump is dead.

⚠ Cloudy or smelly water

Reduced pump performance starves filtration. Bacteria balance breaks down. The pump is the symptom, not the cause — but fixing it fixes the water.

⚠ Pump older than 4 years

Even running fine, an older pump is on borrowed time. If you’re due a pond cleaning anyway, replacing during the clean saves a separate visit later.

How Same-Day Pond Pump Replacement Works

1

Call or WhatsApp us — 24/7

Phone +65 8787 6622 or WhatsApp the same number. Tell us what’s happening (no flow, tripping breaker, no power), pond size if you know it, and your location. We’ll give you an arrival window on the call.

2

Free inspection on arrival

Our technician — same person who’ll do the work — runs a full diagnostic on the pump, pipework and electrical setup. You watch. They explain what they find. If it’s not the pump, we say so.

3

Honest quote, your decision

Replace, repair, or leave alone — we tell you what we recommend and what each option costs. The number we quote is the number on the invoice. If you want to think it over, no problem — diagnostic visit alone is $150 and there’s no pressure.

4

Fish moved to holding tank if needed

We bring an aerated holding tank in the truck. If the work compromises water quality or oxygen for more than 30 minutes, the koi go in. We use your pond water so they stay calm.

5

Pump replaced + pond cleaned

Old pump out, new pump in, electrical re-tested, plumbing sealed and leak-checked. While the pond is partially drained, we vacuum sludge, rinse rocks, service the filter — the free pond cleaning. Total time: 2 to 6 hours depending on system size.

6

Test run, fish back, you sign off

We refill, treat the water, run the new pump for 30 minutes to confirm flow, reintroduce the koi gradually, and walk you through the install. You get a written warranty card and our direct number for any issues in the next 3 months.

Common Pond Issues

Water loss

Several things can cause pond water loss. Turn off all equipment and fill the pond to the top to find leaks.

The leak is in filters, pipelines, or waterfalls outside the pond if the level stays the same. Leaks can be found and corrected.

If the pond level drops, the leak is within. Drain it till the breach is visible for repair.

A puncture in your pond’s PVC, Butyl, or EPDM rubber liner may be leaking. Frost-caused small cracks in concrete ponds create leaks. Concrete pond coatings can also deteriorate, causing leaks.

All fish and aquatic plants will be stored safely and returned after pond repairs.

Ideal pond water conditions

Correct pond water parameters are often forgotten, but they are crucial for a healthy pond where fish can thrive. Any aquatic plant and aerobic bacteria will improve pond conditions for all species.

Pond oxygen levels

The most your pond can store is 18.0 mg/l of dissolved oxygen. Dissolved oxygen in your pond should never drop below 6 mg/l, or fish and aquatic life may suffer. Lower oxygen levels can kill some fish, while others can survive.

Cold water has twice as much oxygen in winter as in summer. Depending on pond volume and shape, owners can optimum oxygen levels in two ways during peak seasons when pond fauna is most active.

First, install an air pump and air stones in your pond to add air. This simple and cost-effective solution can solve low oxygen difficulties. Fitting a fountain or waterfall can add oxygen and be appealing.

Nitrites, ammonia

Ammonia from fish excrement enters your pond. Calcium carbonate feeds essential nitrifying bacteria, which convert ammonia into nitrite. Nitrite breaks down again to nitrate after this.

Ammonia poisoning can harm fish, so keep levels low.

Phosphate levels

Pond water can get phosphates in several ways. They can be found in pond silt, untreated tap water, and fish food. Phosphate excess causes green water and blanket weed. Keeping phosphate levels low will reduce algae growth, but Perfect Ponds can tackle these issues mechanically or chemically. Contact our experts immediately for pond care or consultation.
